What To Wear To A Wedding, Vol. 2

In 2008, one of my first (amateur) posts on this blog was called “What To Wear To A Wedding” and my readers then reacted to it very well. And now with all of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor’s and bachelorette’s dropping like flies, its definitely wedding season:

From Lala Vazquez & Carmelo Anthony, to Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green, to Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher, to Penelope Cruz & Javier Bardem, and with Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz set to wed any day now, celebs are getting hitched and getting hitched fast! But its not only celebrity land that all the wedding bells are ringing in. I’m sure plenty of you have just as much weddings as business meetings to attend (maybe I’m over exaggerating, but you get it) so I have found you some really fab dresses to wear to a Summer wedding!

Trend Spotter: One-Shoulder Dresses @ LaLa & Carmelo’s Wedding

Looks like Lala Vazquez and Carmelo Anthony’s wedding goer’s had one consistent thing in common, one shoulder dresses. From their pre-wedding boat ride celebration, to the actual wedding, stars pulled out their one-shouldered best:

Ciara in a pink printed Versace one-shouldered dress.

My favorite radio host, Angie Martinez, in a classic black one-shouldered dress.

Trina killing it in a black one-shouldered dress with extravagant asymmetrical ruffle detailing.

As for the boat ride, Trina, Kim Kardashian, and Lala opted for one-shoulder dresses. Inspired by the looks, I have found super cute one-shouldered dresses for whatever Summer celebration you may have planned.

*By the way: there were a lot more one shouldered looks, but I couldn’t get good pictures. Womp.*

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE: Zac Posen's 24-Hour Pop Up Shop

Zac Posen has decided to grace us recessionista’s with his fashion mercy by designing a range for budget friendly retail giant, Target. He will be having his 24-hour pop up shop tomorrow in New York starting at 8 p.m., one week before his collection actually hit’s stores:

481 Eighth Avenue, at 34th Street is the place to be, at 8 PM! This is only a 24-hour event, fab folks. And if you’re wondering if yours truly will be there, YES! Always Wanted A Career In Fashion Media? START HERE

I think a lot of people look at “blogging” like the easiest, most carefree job in the world. I mean, you sit behind a computer all day, come up with different things to throw on the blog, talk crap about what someone’s wearing, who they should be dating, and goof around when you’re all done. Umm, yeah right!

There are a lot of things that go into running a website, being an online editor or “blogger” that some may not be prepared for. It takes dedication, commitment, subject knowledge, creative marketing and promotion strategies, basic knowledge of the English vocabulary, and a splash of personality (not to mention, it can be costly… and pay lots of mula). Not just for blogging, but for any career in fashion media.

Because the Center for Communication knows this, they will be holding a special workshop for newbies and people who would like to step foot in the game:

Swizz Beatz & Alicia Keys: The Matching Couple

Swizz Beatz and his girlfriend woman Alicia Keys made their first public appearance as hunny bunny’s at Gotham Magazines Annual Gala last night in New York, which Alicia hosted, both rocking Christian Louboutin kicks:

Maybe the reason for the matching footwear is due in large part to Swizz Beatz new deal with iconic French-designer Christian Louboutin. For those of you out of the loop, Swizz Beatz partnered with Louboutin some time last year to create “a” sneaker (does this mean he will only do one?) to be released this year. Vanity Fair's Official 2010 Oscar After-Party

After the show, it’s the after party… Vanity Fair held their annual Oscar party in Hollywood and anyone who’s anyone came out to celebrate with the winners:

Jennifer Lopez and her hubster Marc Anthony of course hit the after party, and J. Lo switched it up to a black fitted gown with feather sleeve detail. Loving this look on her!

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock hit the red carpet with her husband Jesse James showing off her statue. It’s about time she got noticed for her work!

Cameron Diaz switched it up to a shorter, more sophisticated and mature look in this one shoulder glittering number. It’s a good look for her.

Jennifer Hudson came out in a simple flowing gown, in what seemed to be the color of the night- blue. Love this shade of blue, especially on her!

Father/daughter duo Zoe & Lenny Kravitz stuck together for the after party. Loving this duo, true rockstars!

Amber Rose’s relevancy is getting higher and higher every day! She came out to the exclusive A-list event and walked the carpet in this purple satin Origami bust gown. I love how she can go from sex symbol, to tomboy chic, to red-carpet glamazon!

Forest Whitaker hit the carpet with his gorgeous wife Keisha Whitaker. LOVING this look on Keisha! Stunning.

Hollywood’s “It-Girl” of the moment Zoe Saldana hit up Louis Vuitton’s “Glamour’s Most Glamorous” dinner in L.A. on Thursday night rocking this Louis Vuitton dress from its Spring 2010 runway:

Love the dress on her! Not to mention her hair and make-up was super adorable. Zoe is also one of the cover girl’s for Glamour’s April issue, on news stands now.

Michelle Obama Is A Dreamgirl!

And no, Michelle Obama is not starring in the return-to-Broadway production of the iconic stage play, but she did look lovely in a [literally] dazzling sleeveless gold gown and shawl designed by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan, who also designed the costumes for the 2006 movie “Dreamgirls”:

Her & presidential husband Barack Obama welcomed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Mrs. Gursharan Kaur for the first official state dinner on Tuesday night:

Here’s what the fabulous First Lady had to say about the first State Dinner, and the overall importance of having them:

“The states visits and dinners are a really important part of our nation’s diplomacy. Throughout history they’ve given US presidents and the American people the opportunity to make important milestones in foreign relations. So these dinners and events are really critical to what we do internationally. And they’ve helped build stronger ties with nations as well as people around the world. That’s what President Obama and Prime Minister Singh are doing today.”

She also invited 17 high school girls that she mentor to the exclusive dinner, so that they can get a feel of something they see as “untouchable”. Oh, how I hope to be as gracious, warm, inviting, and inspiring as she when I grow up. *admires from afar*

HIT or MISS?
