Cheap & Chic,
Fabulous Finds,
Shopping
So many times, I scour the world of e-fashion and come up with mostly high-end, top quality clothing to feature on this here site. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some fabulous finds for less! The economic climate has changed the way people think and shop, pushing even the most posh designers to team up with budget friendly retailers such as H&M and Target to bring their fashion to the less affluent. Sucks that it takes an economic crisis to bring these fabulous changes about, but hey, I ain’t complainin’! This new feature that I’m debuting “Fabulous Finds” will feature either lower budget retailers or cheaper alternative designer lines. First up, Forever 21:

I have found some fabulous little nick-nacks at Forever 21, which is my favorite budget friendly store, for all my fabulous readers of FM:

[In Order] 1. Sequin Ruffle Dress $49, 2. Zip Front Tulip Dress $29, 3. Side Swept Rose Dress $22.80, 4. Belted Paint Stroke Dress $24.80
For more fabulous tops, bottoms, and accessories finds…

If you let eldest Kardashian, Kourtney tell it. Ever since her closely followed pregnancy became public record, she’s been proudly showing off her baby bump in mini dresses, and skin-tight dresses. No flowy tops, no mommy jeans, and no “comfy” shoes. Still her same, fabulous self:

I’ve gathered a few fly items perfect for the mommy-to-be that isn’t necessarily the baby doll tops and maxi dresses type of gal when you Read more…

Iconic designer, Carolina Herrera, introduced her new boutique in South Florida on Wednesday night at the Bal Harbour Shops in Miami:

Here are the details on the boutique:
The intimate 2,000 square foot space is furnished with macassar wood tables and finishes, an oversized picture frame, and crescent shaped couches and club chairs upholstered in signature Herrera brown and ivory satin stripe. It was designed to mirror Herrera’s sense of elegance, luxury, and sophisticated modernity. This boutique features the Carolina New York Collection, The Carolina Herrera Bridal Collection, sunglasses, as well as Judith Leiber, Nancy Gonzalez, Manolo Blahnik, and Faraone Mennella accessories.
This is the 4th store, right after New York City, Los Angeles and Dallas. The 5th store is slated to be open in Las Vegas. Check out the inside:

And the clothing is divided by color in separate sections (sort of like retail giant Zara, ever been there?):

You can shop at Carolina Herrera’s boutique at:

As my best friend would say, “you lie like rug!” (get it? rugs lie… on the floor… moving on…)

When I first started this blog, I was on eLuxury every day! It was my go to spot for high-end clothing to put in my posts, until I discovered Net-A-Porter, which made anything else high-end irrelevant, and ASOS- which I would scour for good deals and cheaper alternatives. While on my search for a handbag that came at least close to the one Janet Jackson wore to the Armani show, I discovered it had been replaced.
So I thought, “this has to be a mistake, maybe there are two eLuxury’s now”. The logo was different, the slogan was different, matter of fact this set up was more like an editorial blog than an e-commerce shopping site. So I’m clicking around, trying to make it make sense, until I get redirected to this page, that had the following message:
After ten years as the premiere online fashion retailer, eLuxury has closed down it’s e-commerce operation and will soon launch a new and exciting editorial destination. We want to thank all our loyal customers for shopping with us over the years and we invite you to shop with our prestigious LVMH partners: Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Emilio Pucci and Sephora.

When reworking your wardrobe for each season, it’s about preparation and execution:

I know how it is. You’re browsing the floors of Neiman Marcus, knowing damn well you’re not spending any money because you have sworn to stand by your budget, then it happens. You see the perfect item, and you just have to have it! There is no way you can leave this store without it; God put it in front of you for a reason, right? Of course. But since you went and broke your strictly-sale rule, you have to make this splurge work for you. Celebrities do it all the time:

Beyonce rocked the same Alexander McQueen military jacket twice; once while shopping at Patricia Fields, and then again while strolling through the airport. Both looks casual, with one slightly dressier than the other.

Lauren Conrad wore her Elizabeth & James shorts twice; both while promoting her book LA Candy. While both looks were pretty much the same, the tops were different.

Lala Vasquez rocked her Alexander McQueen booties twice as well; the first time she rocked it was to a movie premiere in LA, then a few days later while out & about with her friend. The first look was very dressy, and red carpet worthy, while the second time it was a lot more casual and stroll friendly. Read more…

Make-Up & Beauty,
Shopping

I recently had a discussion rant on twitter about the current behaviors of consumers, and why more things in this world cater to fashion. Whether it be magazines, blogs, TV Shows, or even TV segments. There are more outlets for fashion than for beauty. So, I ask the question: Is fashion more important to beauty? Is it more profitable or prominent than beauty? Or when they say we are in a “beauty obsessed” culture, do they only mean the physical, material beauty of one self, and not necessarily they care of ones skin?
I mean… I’m a lover of fashion & beauty alike. Moreso fashion because it’s easier to understand, and not as complex to digest. Whereas with beauty, there are so many technicalities that go into it. The skin, being the largest organ of the body, has so much needs and is so complicated to understand, but so necessary to care for. There are all these different skin types, brands, chemicals, plant based ingredients, organic ingredients, I mean it just doesn’t stop. Where with fashion, it’s just as easy as what’s in, what’s out and what fits.
I have created a quick 10-question survey, that will hopefully help me get to the bottom of this! Which is more important to you? Fashion or Beauty? Anna Wintour or Kate Somerville? The Cut or Beauty & The Blog? Help me out by participating in my survey, by clicking the below link:
