Couture is one of those styles of clothing seemingly too extravagant for anything other than runway and editorial, but their is another level of fashion grandiose even more grandiose than couture- stage costumes:

For years, international (and not so international) stars have hit the stage in mostly custom gear, trying to out do the last look every time they hit the stage. But with mega stars like Beyonce setting the tone, and new comers like Lady Gaga stealing the throne (hey, that rhymed!) stars are having more reasons than one to raise the bar. Read more…

I saw the pictures of Mary J. Blige’s performance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” this morning and fell in love with her romper, then I thought “wait a second, I saw someone in that before!”

Selma Blair first rocked this Unhee jumpsuit back in 2008 while promoting Hellboy II during a visit to the now canceled TRL. She paired her romper with Roger Vivier pumps, while Mary rocked it with knee-high cut-out boots. I much prefer the look on Mary, but what do you think?
Who ROCKED it?

BET’s biggest night finally happened last night, and they surely didn’t disappoint! From Kanye West opening the show, to the crazy, sexy and cool Prince tribute, to the emotionally charged Chris Brown performed Michael Jackson tribute, this year’s ceremony was the best it had been in years! Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money crew turned out to be big winners of the night, but the two leading artists disappointed on the carpet. But they weren’t the only ones!

Ciara rocked a black Balmain mini, with gold accents and tassles on the sleeve, pairing it with mif-calf black Giuseppe Zanotti boots. Loved the dress, hated the hair. I’ve seen it a lot more voluminous than this, during girls night out dinners with Kim Kardashian.

Lala Vasquez looked super cute on the carpet in this sequined dress, pairing it with black suede Casadei pumps. Her fiancée Carmel Anthony also looked clean, and fresh alongside his lady.

Jada Pinkett Smith brought along her stylish kiddies, and rocked a onesie, pairing it with a black satin lined blazer. But her kids came looking fly to, not to be outdone by their mother:

Willow Smith and Jaden Smith showcased their individual style, and looked cute while doing so.

While Rihanna have been rocking custom made pieces for her Last Girl On Earth tour, she has been switching it up lately and rocked a look straight off the runway:

This gray knitted bodysuit with the cut out side definitely turned heads, as she rocked it with thigh high taupe boots, and fishnet stockings. This look is from VPL by Victoria Bartlett’s Fall 2010 collection, which will be in stores late this Summer.

Newly found friends, Cassie & Nicki Minaj, seem to share more than just a love for a bad boy, but a love for shoes too! They were caught rocking the same shoe, but of course on 2 different occasions:

Nicki Minaj first rocked these Opening Ceremony Tsumori Chisato J013 lace-up wedge ($540) with fringe during her BET Spring Bling performance. That was in April, then this weekend during Hot 97’s Summer Jam, Cassie rocked it with white shorts and pastel tie dye shirt, topping it off with a Balenciaga bag.
Which bad girl ROCKED it better? I sure can’t decide…

Ah, man. Christina Aguilera’s comeback is looking less and less… Just less. From her singles, to her sexually provocative dancing, to soft porn like music videos, to her style of dress. There’s nothing fresh about her new direction, and her recent look while performing on the Today Show yesterday put the stamp on her semi-menopausal, apparent mid-life crisis:

I see a lot of people doing the shorts-over-tights thing, and it hasn’t looked good on ONE person, ever. It’s very unbecoming, unflattering, and 6th grade. If you’re not an OMG Girl (#shouts to Tiny & Toya) then you probably shouldn’t be wearing shorts over your leggings. Studded leggings at that. But because I’m all about solutions, and hate to just say “that’s whack, don’t do that again!” without an alternative in site, I am offering you up some alternatives and advice.

Nicki Minaj’s Summer Jam look had everyone buzzing. Although she hit the stage several times during the annual concert, which brings out the who’s-who of current day Hip-Hop/R&B, it was one look in particular that had tongues wagging:

Rocking a bright dress from Versace’s highly rated Spring 2010 collection, the Queen Bee Harajuku Barbie took the focus off her “rap beef” to focus on her looks. But it wasn’t really her dress that impressed, it was the shoes:

Designed by Jennifer Le of 2BITCHEZDEEP, these “Hell raiser” platform boots are made of lucite, spikes, and other freaky stripper materials. These bad girls will add at least “15 lbs to your set,” as told by the designer. Originally designed with gold spikes, the silver spiked Nicki Minaj wore was custom made for her. You can peep different angles of the shoe Read more…

BFF’s Rihanna and Katy Perry both debuted new, colorful looks recently. Both singers rocked out in bright, bold colors over the weekend- Rihanna chose red, while Katy Perry chose blue:

Rihanna rocked hers in Rio Saturday, while performing in the “Rock In Rio Madrid” festival, then stepped out to Mahiki nightclub last night showing different angles of the cut and color. Meanwhile, in LA, Katy Perry rocked her new blue ‘do to the MTV Movie Awards: Read more…

… But she is definitely in the running for the title of the flyest. The international style icon (is it safe to call her that yet?) has been making her worldwide rounds for her current tour “Last Girl On Earth” and has done everything from bust her behind on stage, to get hospitalized, to play the drums, all before she even hit the US leg. But what’s even more astounding is her choice of stage costumes:

While she didn’t play with any crazy colors, she definitely went for very Read more…

Watching my favorite a-diva on stage after my Thanksgiving celebration subsided and my steak, roast beef, rice, etc. (yum!) digested, I was like… Ok! She is definitely the baddest chick in the game! Hardest working as well. I think the only person that works harder is her costume designer:

Her creative advisor and costume designer for her “I Am… Yours” tour, Thierry Mugler, shut it down with crystal embellished leotards, shard shouldered jackets, sculpted hip detail, animal prints, and rhythm ready corset’s. Whether it’s the famous “Halo” wedding gown, sheer panel leotard with matching cut-out glove, or her flame burst, cheetah printed, red light bust bearing (what’s really good with that?) one-piece, she has just as much hits in the wardrobe sector as she does in the music sector.
I have pulled some “I Am… Yours” inspired looks for all my a-diva’s!
