Rebecca Minkoff Designs Murses

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 3, 2010 in Designer, Men Style, New Lines

Since the commercially secluded metro sexual lifestyle has taken a more front door approach and embraced by markets that take manhood a tad too literal, everyone is capitalizing. And what is the must have for every metro man? The murse, of course! (That’s a man purse for those not in the know…) No worries, Rebecca Monkoff is designing a range just for you guys:

Rebecca Minkoff, who is most known for her line of handbags [and clothes] is making a line of men’s bags called Ben Minkoff. The line, which is inspired by her grandfather who is a World War II veteran, will be available Spring 2011. The designs seamlessly blend heritage and modernity; functionality and style and are based on the three classic bags used by the Air Force in the 1940s—the map, mail and motorcycle bags. The line will include bags, iPad and Kindle cases, wallets and belts priced between $30 and $575:

These bags are definitely fly! So fella’s, will you be getting your murse? Also, do you think Pharrell will be copping his Ben Minkoff murse to replace his Birkin one? Read more…

Taylor Momsem Goes From ‘Gossip Girl’ To ‘Material Girl’

Posted by Tara Decoda on Jul 15, 2010 in Campaigns, Celebs, New Lines

We announced a while back that Madonna and her mini-me Lourdes would be launching a junior’s line with Macy’s, tentatively named after arguable her biggest hit- Material Girl. Although Madge has a little material girl of her own that could model the line, she decided to derail from the typical celebrity “I’ll be the face of my own brand” route and instead hired someone who simply represents the brands message:

Actress and rock star Taylor Momsem was tapped to be the face of the line, which will be in stores August. The line is a mix between edgy and feminine, and this simple but fun look Taylor rocks in the ad definitely embodies just that.

Ivanka Trump Launches Handbag Line

Posted by Tara Decoda on Jun 4, 2010 in Accessories, Celebs, Designer, New Lines

If I start to gush midway through this post, don’t mind me. I’m just in love with Ivanka…

Looks like the heir to the Trump throne, Ivanka Trump, is going to be broadening her brand. Going from jewelry, to footwear, to handbags, she seems to be conquering the luxurious sector of the fashion business, while still maintaining it all as an extension of the overall Trump brand. About her newest venture with Modani, she had this to say:

“I would like consumers to be able to connect with the Ivanka Trump brand in a wide range of price points while maintaining the integrity of the brand from a quality and design perspective. My overall goal is that every consumer will have the opportunity to grow with the Trump brand, from the purchase of Ivanka Trump shoes and accessories to ultimately staying in Trump hotels, playing our golf courses and living in our condominium buildings.”

The bags are set to debut this Spring, and has no official name. Ivanka also has her fine jewelry line Ivanka M. Trump, which will run you anywhere from $750-$1 million. Yikes! Not bad for the daughter of a man such as Donald, and who bares the last name Trump. Literally and figuratively. Also here is a quote from Ivanka that I find very inspiring: Read more…

All Eyes On: LaQuan Smith

Posted by Tara Decoda on May 24, 2010 in Designers, Fun & Funky & Edgy, New Lines

21-year-old LaQuan Smith has the fashion industry shaking like tambourines (as Lil’ Wayne would say). The latest go-to designer for stars such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Tyra Banks, Amerie and most recently Cassie, is definitely far ahead of his time, but his success didn’t come overnight. The eager Queens native was rejected twice by famed fashion school FIT, but that didn’t make him snuggle up under one of his designs while crying on his futon. He went and snagged an internship with BlackBook magazine, working for fashion editor Elizabeth Sulcer.

While interning for Elizabeth, he would check her e-mail, packed with invites to exclusive fashion shindig’s, and crash them- decked in his own designs of course! Besides the bold detailing and intricacy of his designs, he was also a 6-foot man wearing an extra 6-inches of heel, so he stood out. Among the people that gave head turns and curious stares was Kelly Mills. Fashion publicist and would be fairy Godmother of the soon to be most sought after designer. Through her fashion network, LaQuan’s clothes ended up on pop stars and supermodels alike! It wasn’t long before Tyra Banks tapped him to wear his designs on the cover of her online magazine “Beauty: Inside & Out”:

Jimmy Choo Prepares For Sneaker Debut

Posted by Tara Decoda on Apr 24, 2010 in Designers, High-End, New Lines, That's A Good Look

After successfully conquering the high-end shoe and bag market and hitting a home run with their H&M collection, Jimmy Choo is now venturing into the sneaker market to snatch up some of the market share:

The “trainers” (London talk for sneakers) will range in price from $465-$595 and feature styles as versatile as patent, snakeskin, and suede. The shoe range, which will start with 6 styles, aims to target the stylish and savvy woman who wants to look just as good working out as she does dining with her beau. Umm, wasn’t this the same ideology Vanessa & Angela Simmons had in mind for Pastry? Moving on…

I am love, love, loving the snakeskin sneaker! The kicks will be released in May and available online and in all Jimmy Choo stores. But don’t be in a rush to get yours just yet, because of the six styles four already boasts a wait list.

Sidenote: Tamara Mellon taking the reigns on Jimmy Choo has to be one of the best business moves made in fashion. Man, that lady is pure genius!

Nicole Richie Is Arm Candy Worthy

Posted by Tara Decoda on Apr 2, 2010 in Accessories, Celebs, Designers, New Lines

The 28-year-old mother of two will be adding handbag designer to her already lengthy fashion resume. After a successful run with her shoes & accessories line House Of Harlow 1960, her maternity line with A Pea In The Pod, and her Winter Kate clothing collection, she is now launching a handbag collection under House Of Harlow which will consist of 40-50 different styles and cost $295-$595. The line will be released Spring 2011.

The line will be produced by Majestic Mills, the same manufacturer responsible for House Of Harlow and Winter Kate. According to Rick Cytrynbaum, Majestic Mills co-founder, the line will have a very Nicole Richie aesthetic and will be very similar to her clothing and shoes line. So I take it there will be a very vintage, boho feel? I dig it. I actually like her products, I think she makes for a good celebutante designer! Papa Lionel must be proud of his little girl’s growth! *tear*

Madonna & Her Daughter Are Material Girls

Posted by Tara Decoda on Mar 13, 2010 in Celebs, Cheap & Chic, Designers, New Lines

Madonna and her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes (is it one name like her mom?) are teaming up to push out a junior’s line tentatively named after one of Madonna’s greatest hits:

The eccentric singer, who have focused more on her worldly popular music than venturing into unnatural territories such as design, perfume & acting, unlike her 10 million other peers (even though she does have her H&M collection), is officially hopping on the “celebrity designer” ban wagon. But not to design clothes for you, for your little ones. She is debuting the Material Girls collection this August, right in time for back to school shopping. She has partnered with Iconix Brand Group, Inc. to bring the juniors line to the world-famous department store:

The “Material Girl” collection – clothing, footwear, handbags and jewelry – will initially be available only at 200 Macy’s stores and online.

Prices on the “Material Girl” line will range from $12 to $40, with plans already in place to introduce perfume and other beauty products beginning in 2011.

Starting off in 200 stores, of their 850, not so bad. Looking forward to the clothing! Will post as soon as I get it!

Kardashians By Bebe

Posted by Tara Decoda on Mar 3, 2010 in Celebs, Designers, Fashion Shows, New Lines, That's A Good Look

The Kardashian girls have teamed up with Bebe (in case you haven’t heard by now) to launch a collection that speaks to all the sisters style and “all women”, according to the sisters. Kim has even rocked a few pieces from the collection herself:

They introduced the world to their collection during the recent Fall 2010 New York Fashion Week at the Bryant Park tents, and I am actually loving the line:

Fashion Watch: T by Alexander Wang

Posted by Tara Decoda on Oct 27, 2009 in Designers, Fashion Watch, High-End, New Lines

So, I must be living under a rock! Just recently, while browsing the usual e-fashion sites that I love, I kept seeing T by Alexander Wang. It’s basically a cheaper, more casual alternative to the high-end line, Alexander Wang. Since I’m more for the simple stuff and really accessorizing it to make the look pop, I was drawn to this line:

Stretch One-Shoulder Dress $95
