Celebs,
Models,
Seriously? That's Strange
Super duper model Heidi “The Body” Klum, who is known for snapping back after having a baby, couldn’t seem to pull it together this time:

Heidi, who just had her 4th child, has opted to not hit the gym to snap back in time to hit the runway for the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show that just happened. And while she says she is comfortable with her curves, she still wants to lose 20 lbs.
*sigh* This is exactly what is wrong with society today. For young girls who look at Heidi as this beautiful woman who has it all, and has a great body, I feel as if this a slap in their face. The modeling industry has come under fire plenty of times for the weight of models, and the way women are portrayed as it pertains to size. For years, unrealistic images have plagued the pages of magazines, and skinnier than life models have stomped the most prestigious runways.

amfAR, the foundation for AIDS research, held their first ever charity event in Milan at La Premanente, co-hosted by Janet Jackson. The fashion elite took a break from the shows to support the effort to end the global AIDS epidemic:

Janet Jackson hit the carpet with Donatella Versace, both of course wearing Versace designs. Janet looked amazing in this blue wrap gown, and Donatella rocked a look straight off her S/S 2010 runway.

Burlesque queen, Dita Von Teese, rocked a pink and black satin rouched dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Typical retro look for Dita. She looks fab.

Model Chanel Iman rocked a beautiful black satin and sheer gown by Versace. Absolutely love this look for Chanel, and the hints of sheer seems to be really big for the upcoming season. One of the best dressed for the night.

Iconic Canadian model Linda Evangalista seemed to be unsettled about which fabric of choice to wear. Satin, velvet, fur, oh my! Dare I say it, she pulled this look off! Loving the vintage 40’s finger waves, and the bold red lipstick.

Kanye West & Amber Rose came matching in all black everything. I would have loved to see the two up the ante, because I know they definitely know how to bring it! And it looks like someone has a new piercing:

I am loving this “made for Barbie” shade of lipstick too! She rocks pink lips well, seems to be her fave shade.

I’m not sure how many of you watched the first season of ‘The T.O. Show’ on Vh1, but I did. I wasn’t exactly looking forward to it, but when I saw one episode, I was hooked! The one particular episode that drew me in was when Jessica White appeared as Terrell Owen’s date to his best friend/publicist, Kita’s, birthday party. As protective, and some times overbearing friends, Kita and his other best friend/publicist Mo, decided to interrogate Jessica:
Mo: “What do you do?”
Jessica: “I’m a model.”
Mo: “What kind of model?”
Jessica: “Oh, you can google me: Jessica White”
What up, gang-staaa?? Glued to the TV screen waiting for Mo to either pull out her G1 or her razor, I decided to do as Jessica said and google her.

While I have heard of Jessica before, and seen her in magazines, she was never one of the models that stood out to me. And she was by far no Tyra, Naomi, or even Chanel Iman! But she wasn’t a low budget, face down, ass up Smooth magazine “model” either. These are my findings:

It seems like all the good stuff has been happening in day time talk show world. Oprah went to Brooklyn with Jay-Z, Whitney gave her first on air interview in years (which I can’t wait for!), and Tyra Banks showed her real hair!
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pisyysp24rw]
She has been promoting this episode for a long time now, and stated that the reason she is showing her real hair is because so many women are ashamed of their natural hair, and has declared that day as ‘Natural Hair Day’. Now, I didn’t see the episode myself, but after watching the above clip and reading the opinions of my fellow bloggers and seeing some of the folks I am following on Twitter talk about it, I am weighing in:

Models,
My 2 Cents
Wait, where was I?

While checking out New York Magazine’s fashion blog, The Cut, I came across a tid bit that model Jourdan Dunn is pregnant. For those of you not in the know Jourdan Dunn is a 19 year old model who has been making waves in the fashion industry. Her subsequent rise to “fame” came after she was the first black model to walk the Prada runway since Naomi Campbell, over 10 years prior. Ever since then she has graced the covers of magazines such as i-D, Pop, Elle, and most notably Vogue Italia’s all black isssue. She has also walked elite runways such as Oscar de la Renta (above picture), Prada, Zac Posen, Gucci, and many, many more. So she has put in her fair share of work, but that’s besides the point.
My big question(s) are:
1. How come no one told me she was pregnant?
2. What will become of her burgeoning model career?
3. How old is she again?

As some of you may know, September is the biggest month in fashion, especially for publications. For i-D’s September issue they featured it models (of color) Chanel Iman, Sessilee Lopez, Jourdan Dunn & Arlenis Sosa:

Shot by Emma Summerton in London Town, i-D is saluting the PYT (Pretty Young Things) of the fashion world. But unlike it’s other glossy contemporaries, i-D is featuring all Black models on it’s September cover. Fashionologie notes that i-D is “the first (and so far only) major fashion magazine to go with women of color for their September issue this season.”
That’s a good look!

Chanel Iman hosted a cocktail party for the designers of Bensoni in NYC a couple nights ago, looking just flawless:

This red mini dress with ruffled sleeves, black clutch & black embellished gladiator sandals was just fabulous!

Super duper model Naomi Campbell is the newest cover girl for GIANT magazine:

In the new issue, Naomi goes off about her ex-boss John Casablancas, chief of Elite Model Management. She claims that John is the one who gave her the reputation of “diva” and “hard to work with”:
“He had to attack me because I decided to leave. Models can leave agencies. I was not under a written contract….. I was shocked to see how he acted. He started that first rumour (that I was tough to work with).”
Hmm… interesting.

Celebs,
Models,
Seriously? That's Strange
The ‘America’s Next Top Model’ auditions went down in New York City yesterday and it was mayhem!

There were about 4,000 girls who came out to audition and before we even got inside, there were already fights! The line wrapped around the whole entire block. Any one who knows what a New York square block is like, knows what I mean. Part of this craziness, or all of this craziness, is due to the fact that for the FIRST TIME IN TOP MODEL HISTORY, Tyra was casting short girls (5′7″ and under). I am 5′1″ and a half and had dreams of trying out for Top Model when I was in Middle School but then quickly dismissed it due to the industry (and top model) standard of 5′7″ and above. So, of course my behind was on that line!
I stood on line for 10 hours and never even got to go inside!! I woke up at 5am, arrived at 7am and stood on line until 5pm. Had there been more organization on behalf of Top Model, in regards to where we go in (there were several entrances to the hotel), I would have auditioned long before 5pm. I got on the wrong line. I thought I was just feet away from the entrance, when it turned out I had to circle the WHOLE block. Pissed? Sure wasn’t, but everyone else around me was (leading to 3 physical fights breaking out). So I proceeded to be me and entertain the whole line. Smiles, anyone?
But, in true Top Model fashion, I WILL NOT GIVE UP! Next stop, Dallas, TX! See you there!
UPDATE: Here is video of the stampede. I am sooo in that crowd! I remember that.

Fashion Shows,
Models

The 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (which will air Dec. 3 on CBS) went down in the MIA this weekend, and it raised the bar for lingerie, AGAIN. Here’s what the CEO had to say about this year’s show:
“The theme of the show is a return to glamour,” said company CEO Sharen Turney. “Victoria’s Secret is about sexy and the new sexy is glamorous for this season.”
Check it:

Can you believe she just had a baby?

Work it out then Alessandra Ambrosio!
