Rebecca Minkoff Designs Murses

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 3, 2010 in Designer, Men Style, New Lines

Since the commercially secluded metro sexual lifestyle has taken a more front door approach and embraced by markets that take manhood a tad too literal, everyone is capitalizing. And what is the must have for every metro man? The murse, of course! (That’s a man purse for those not in the know…) No worries, Rebecca Monkoff is designing a range just for you guys:

Rebecca Minkoff, who is most known for her line of handbags [and clothes] is making a line of men’s bags called Ben Minkoff. The line, which is inspired by her grandfather who is a World War II veteran, will be available Spring 2011. The designs seamlessly blend heritage and modernity; functionality and style and are based on the three classic bags used by the Air Force in the 1940s—the map, mail and motorcycle bags. The line will include bags, iPad and Kindle cases, wallets and belts priced between $30 and $575:

These bags are definitely fly! So fella’s, will you be getting your murse? Also, do you think Pharrell will be copping his Ben Minkoff murse to replace his Birkin one? Read more…

MEN STYLE: Dressing For The Workplace

Posted by Jefferson Ellison on Jul 10, 2010 in Business Chic, Men Style

I, of all people, understand that people work hard on their jobs and not all  have time or the financial “resources” necessarily to get ready for the “red carpet” every morning. But if you have a professional job, especially one of high status (i.e. Lawyers, Doctors (of any kind), engineers, CEO, etc.) you really should take the time to look the part. So for all those girls who shop for their Dad or the beau, and for guys who are aspiring to do great professional things- this post is for you:

First off, you need a great briefcase. Not a man bag, you’re working in Corporate America not spending a day in the Hamptons. I recommend something durable and always in style. This Louis Vuitton monogram briefcase ($1,600) will last you until your grandchildren die! It shows your success and maybe a bit of a snob but that’s ok, you’ve earned it!

Style Synopsis: Spring 2011 Men’s Fashion Week

Posted by Jefferson Ellison on Jul 6, 2010 in Designer, Fashion Shows, Men Style

Salut! Tara’s obsessed with the french language, and well, so am I.  I’m the new Men’s Fashion Contributor. My name is J… Hi! :)

Any guy, or super fashionable butch lesbian, knows that the only place to look for next season’s trends are the Men’s Fashion Week runways. There are hundreds of shows in specifies cities through out the year, but for the most recent fashion week the happening was in Milan, and designers brought the sleekness, the suaveness, and the edge. Depending on the man you are or want to be, you will like different things. And I’ll help you find what works for you!

1. Edgy; Trend Setter or my “Male Gaga’s” – Burberry Prorsum

Being called “the best men’s collection of Christopher Bailey’s career,” this collection really set the tone for the men with edge. The “heritage biker” collection played with military-influenced tailoring in khaki trenches and naval officer’s coats, and hard-to-miss details like leather epaulettes and studded belts. Finding the balance between boyish vulnerability and male strength is slowly becoming the norm in Burberry, and if this collection was a theme song for eccentric men, it would probably be as dynamic as Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman.”

2. Classic, yet up to date- Gucci

Maintaining its position as the #1 luxury brand in the world, grossing $7 billion annually, Gucci proved its marketability and profitability with this sixties inspired collection. With quintessential jet-set emblems like the mohair suit, the chocolate brown safari suit, the rawhide leather jacket, the suede-fronted cardigan, and  silk jacquard evening jacket, this collection is cooler than Fonzie in the 50’s. Kid Cudi was spotted out recently rocking Rodarte’s popular “Radarte” hoodie, which plays off their “rad” theme they have going on this season:

Retailing for a cool $155, the hoodie doesn’t exactly cost an arm and a leg. No reason why its sold out! ^_^

Six Packs Are Overrated… And We Have Proof!

Posted by Tara Decoda on May 25, 2010 in Celebs, Men Style, Seriously? That's Strange

Apparently, it doesn’t matter if men with six-packs endorse a product, because consumers will buy it anyway. A new survey conducted by Queensland University, that more than 600 students in their late teens participated in, views ads for cologne, underwear, jeans, etc. found ads with normal body types just as effective as the ones with the six-packs. The findings suggest that cologne or denim brands, for example, can launch successful ad campaigns with more common male body types. The guys surveyed liked the ads with no models in them the best (go figure).

Some participants in the University of Queensland study ”may have attributed the models’ muscularity to vanity or homosexuality, characteristics which they may have found unpleasant or discomforting”, Ms Diedrichs wrote in the journal Body Image.

”The average-size male models [may have seemed] less concerned with their appearance.”

MEN STYLE: Nike Air Max 95 Blue Slate

Posted by Tara Decoda on Apr 24, 2010 in Men Style, Sneakers

Nike has dipped into its vault of classics to re-release the Air Max 95 “Blue Slate” sneaker, which was originally released in the early 90’s, as part of the All-Star Air Max line-up celebrating the sneaker’s 15-year anniversary:

Yes, it’s already been 15-years since the first Air Max 95 dropped in 1995 (the year I came to America :) ). I remember my first pair of Air Max’s; I was in the 4th grade, and when I got them no one couldn’t tell me I wasn’t the coolest kid in school! Although the last time I stepped my foot in a pair of those, I was in the 10th grade and failing Math class.

The release line-up includes Comet, Grape and Neon: Read more…

Posted by Tara Decoda on Apr 19, 2010 in Men Style, Sneakers

Set to be released tomorrow, April 20th, (officially), Nike SB’s High Premium “Skunk” Dunk is right on time for Spring:

With three different shades of green, and a purple check sign, the shoe looks to be inspired by the outdoors and nature. But why call it “Skunk?” A skunk is actually on the inner sole of the shoe, revealing the reasoning behind the name. The sneaker was designed and created by skateboard artist Todd Bratrud, whose been partnering with Nike for a hot minute now. These are limited edition SB’s and apart of Nike’s April 2010 releases, in anticipation for Spring.

SUMMER SCHOOL: What Men Should Never Wear

Posted by Tara Decoda on Apr 12, 2010 in Men Style, Summer Time, What Not To Do

Yes, us ladies have our “oh no she didn’t come out her house and think that was cute” moments, but you guys are habitual line steppers when it comes to what not to wear. Here’s a few things I don’t want to see this summer at all:

ED HARDY:

Unless Christian Audigier is cutting you thick checks to wear Ed Hardy, this is definitely at the top of the list for what not to wear. The graphic t-shirt thing is so 5 years ago, so unless you’re the newest cast member on Jersey Shore, don’t do it!

WALLET CHAINS:

I don’t want to hear any excuses, no justifying its convenience, just don’t do it. Okay? Unless you’re going through an Usher-esque mid-life crisis, this is not okay.

SUNGLASSES IN THE CLUB:

I don’t care who you are, what the occasion is, or what you do for a living. I’ve seen this one too many times and it’s not attractive, not to mention it’s a safety hazard. Now you’re risking spilling a drink on a young ladies dress who has to return it in the morning- now she can’t get her money back.
