MAC Cosmetics just released a new product recently called “Lip Markers”:

I love the name as well as the creativity, but didn’t Covergirl do this already? The answer is YES!

“Lip Stain” delivers precision application and a light weight flush of color that last. While MAC’s “Lip Marker” retails at $14, “Lipstain” from Covergirl will average you half the price at $8 ( drugstores).
Now in my personal option, I don’t like either. While MAC color is bright and beautiful, it dries out your lips. Cover girl’s color is a little off, and for it to be a stain it stays on your lips 15 min. MAX! Whew!

Anyone who knows me, or at least see me on a regular, knows I’m a big fan of M.A.C. I stand behind M.A.C. like a trained make-up artist at their Macy’s-Herald Square counter! From their foundation, to their blush, to their gloss. Usually, I keep it quite simple with their lipglass in Revealing, but I may have to switch up with the launch of their new Summer 2010 collection:

This one looks a lot more “sparkly” than the rest, with flakes of shimmer, as opposed to hints. Here’s what M.A.C. had to say about this collection:
Shattered, decimated, blinded by a fantastic, intergalactic lip light! Just when you thought Dazzleglass was the best-of bright, along comes Superglass, with secret, snowflake-shaped helicone pearls sparkling in three different facets for triple the dazzle! Lips have gone big bang, explosively dimensional, a rare eclipse! Gloss feels slick and sleek on application with no draggy speed bumps, not a hint of grit. Extreme innovation that’s a good reflection on M∙A∙C…and the seductress lucky enough to strike upon it.
Here are photos of the glosses: Read more…

Yves Saint Laurent did it, Chanel did it, Dior did it, now Burberry is doing it! Burberry is joining the long list of high-end fashion lines who ventured into the sister to style- beauty:

Chief Creative Director Christopher Bailey told WWD that the line will consist of foundations, powders, bronzers, eye shadow, eyeliner, lip gloss, lip definers, lipstick and mascara. Despite the company’s past interest in fragrances, this is the brand’s first foray into cosmetics. Here is what he had to say about the decision to add cosmetics to the auspicious empire: Read more…

Former Bond girl Thandie Newton will front the campaign for the cosmetic giant’s Total Effects range, to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary in the UK:

Here’s what she had to say about the collaboration and the range of products itself:
“When filming, my working day is hectic, so trying to strike a balance between work, a family and time for myself can be challenging..Olay is a brand I trust and I love the fact that the range offers me an all-in-one, anti-aging moisturizer which takes care of all my skincare needs.”
Pretty standard, round-the-mill answer, but it’s a good look for the ageless star nonetheless! Also, here’s what a spokesperson for the brand had to say about Thandie being the face of the range: Read more…

Twins, business partners, and designers Dean and Dan Caten mentioned that they are discussing a potential second limited-edition Dsquared2 makeup collection for M.A.C.! The first collaboration, which came out last October, seemed to be a hit among beauty addicts:

The line ranged in price from $14-$34, and featured a simple packaging that had DSquared2 running across in a squared font. Umm, not quite the packaging I would have expected from D2, but hey- I’ve seen worse! Will you be copping part deux of the collabo, if there should be one?

Fall Trend: Blue Smoky Eye

No black, no grey, nope, you’re not listening…pass me the black eyeliner missy!!! Let’s try something new! It’s all about the BLUE!

Yes ladies, this blue smokey eye is sooooo in right now. Now, I’m not trying to make you look “black and blue” well, scratch that, I am!!! This 70’s inspired look is hot right now (NYC Fashion Week, Vogue, Elle), well rather BLUE. It’s the same as your normal “black and grey smokey eye”. Just minus the black and add the blue. Be sure not to overkill the look with a strong lip. My choice is a soft pink lip or a nude lip. That should do the trick!
Here are some of my favorite products to achieve this look: NARS China Blue or Tropic $22, NARS Duo Eye Shadow Demon Lover $32, M.A.C. Freshwater or Deep Truth $14.50, M.A.C. Eye Shadow Pallet Tone: Grey $36.00 (4 colors: white, grey, blue, light blue), Revlon 12 Hour Eye Shadow Quad Stonewashed Denim $7 (4 colors), and CoverGirl Queen Collection Eye Shadow Quads Blue Notes $5
