I’m still in the process of getting over the fact that Scarlett Johansson is married to my future husband in my head (Ryan Reynolds) but I’ll get over that soon enough. Until then, check out her new ad campaign for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2010 Makeup line:

It was a typical D&G aesthetic; sensual, sexy and romantic. For the campaign she rocked D&G’s Classic Cream Lipstick in Amethyst:

Love, love, love this shade! I don’t care how much it cost ($30)… I need this! I’m all the way into it. You can get your hands on the Classic Cream Lipstick at Saks. I’m definitely getting mine. As for Ryan, I’ll get over that soon enough. Or not…

Zoe Kravitz is putting her rock star image to good use, as she just snagged the Alexander Wang campaign. Shot by Terry Richardson, the ad was very simple:

Congrats to Zoe! Do you like?

Looks like Bey Sting is making sure Dereon and House of Dereon remains(?) relevant to all the fashion givers and takers, as she stars in the ad campaign for both ranges. Starring as a 1960’s pin-up girl in one, and a futuristic biker chick in the next, she definitely looked amazing in the flicks. Here is the Juniors line, Dereon:

She said she wanted a look that was “Marilyn Monroe meets Angelina Jolie.” Are y’all feeling it? Read more…

Looks like Beyonce & Dereon is still going strong! They have released the new scan of her ad campaign for the upcoming Fall season, and looked daring and edgy. Sasha Fierce would approve:

I actually like this dress (and the whole look), but we all know how those Dereon clothes really look! Hot ad though!

Apparently Ke$ha wakes up in the morning hustlin’ like P. Diddy too! Looks like Pop’s wild child is taking after many of her musical counterparts and getting into the branding aspect of things as well:

Ke$ha will front the “What’s your fashionality?” campaign for Japanese watch maker Casio’s Baby-G watches, but not only that, she will also design two styles for the line and take on the role as Brand Ambassador. Casio hopes the watches’ new bright colors and metallic’s will prompt young women to collect and wear them as fashion accessories. Here’s what Ke$ha had to say about her new gig:
“I think the Baby-G brand is amazing it’s stylish, innovative, durable and affordable. The bright colors and metallic finishes really compliment my moods and personality,” said Ke$ha. “I have some fun ideas for my watches and I am so thrilled that I am the first worldwide female artist to be given the opportunity to design my very own Baby-G!”
The watches range from $79-$99. Her styles will be in stores this Fall. Get more information here.

Janet Jackson has signed on to be the new face of fur company BlackGlama’s iconic “What Becomes A Legend Most?” campaign:

The 44-year-old icon in her own right joins the ranks of Audrey Hepburn, Diana Ross, Lena Horne, Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland and many more as the face of this campaign. For the ad, the star wore a black mink pulled up to her face, highlighting her cheekbones and new short ‘do. But of course, PETA had a lot to say about Janet signing on as the face BlackGama’s campaign, writing an open letter to her implying she’s a hypocrite and taking shots at her career:
“You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message,” PETA Senior Vice President Dan Matthews said. ”You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?”
The letter then went on to call Janet “desperate” and saying her career is on a “down slide.” Typical of PETA to hit below the belt. Their strongly opinionated and vindictive open letters never cease to amaze me. But Janet chose not to answer PETA, but instead answer the question asked in her campaign: Read more…

We announced a while back that Madonna and her mini-me Lourdes would be launching a junior’s line with Macy’s, tentatively named after arguable her biggest hit- Material Girl. Although Madge has a little material girl of her own that could model the line, she decided to derail from the typical celebrity “I’ll be the face of my own brand” route and instead hired someone who simply represents the brands message:

Actress and rock star Taylor Momsem was tapped to be the face of the line, which will be in stores August. The line is a mix between edgy and feminine, and this simple but fun look Taylor rocks in the ad definitely embodies just that.

Zoe Saldana’s career has gained a significant boost over the past year-and-a-half, and her momentum still hasn’t slowed. Aside from her prestigious magazine covers and numerous awards, she can now add endorsement darling to the list of adjectives used to describe her.

She has joined the likes of Eva Mendes and Mechad Brooks as the face of Calvin Klein’s underwear models. She will be modeling the brands new line of underwear, Envy, and CK has released a preview of their first ad with her. About her new gig, she had this to say:
“Calvin Klein has always put forth such beautifully executed campaigns,” the Avatar star says in a statement. “It’s very exciting for me to be associated with such an iconic, globally recognized brand like Calvin Klein Underwear.”
The ad’s will make their debut in October.

My 2 Cents

As soon as I saw the new pictures of Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2010 ad campaign with Joan Smalls and Raquel Zimmerman, I immediately flashed back to last year when I was working on a documentary about the fashion industry and black models. During the research for the documentary, I was looking about Gucci’s use of black models in their ad campaigns, and saw none. As far back as Spring/Summer 2005, they have used no Black models. I mean, they may give them a shot on the runway, but I have yet to see a black model in their ad campaigns.
I mean, I may be pushing it to say Joan Smalls is the first to land a Gucci ad campaign (and no, Rihanna doesn’t count. She was a celebrity endorser, not a model), but I even as I look through there past campaigns, nothing. Don’t believe me? Then take a look:
