2009 BET Awards- Red Carpet Arrivals

The BET Awards is the first award show to air since the passing of Michael Jackson. So, as you may know, emotion was everywhere and Michael inspirations and impersonations were everywhere on the red carpet:

Beyonce rocked a mini sequenced Balmain dress from the Spring 2009 collection, and some very interestingly cool shoes. While the show was airing, and she was accepting her award for ‘Best Female R&B Artist’ I was like “what is that shaking on her shoe?” But, as usual, Bey looked great. HIT.

Keri Hilson came out rocking an interesting colorful stars (and other shapes) dress. I’m guessing this one is from her stylist Brea Stinson’s line B. Star. Surprisingly, I love her look! HIT

Kanye West brought along his fab girlfriend Amber Rose (who recently confirmed through her Twitter page that she signed with Ford Models), who freaked it in a long sleeved white mini Alexander McQueen dress and pink pumps, with matching clutch. Loving the pink lips, and Kanye’s casual look works perfectly for him. They look good as a couple. HIT

Star Trek star, Zoe Saldana, rocked an asymmetrical cut-out Calvin Klein dress and paired it with Brian Atwood sandals. Not loving this look at all! The ill fit of the dress and the heavy shoes, no ma’am! This was just all wrong for her petite figure. MISS

Alicia Keys is my giiirrrllll… She can do no wrong in my eyes! She looked great in embellished mini dress and nude Christian Louboutin sandals. And she is giving it to me with that curly hair. HIT

Ever since Ciara hired Rihanna’s stylist (Mariel Haenn) and tried to switch up her style, I have NOT been a fan of the faux edgy swag she’s been trying to adapt. But this red leather (in the sun, though?) dress, with ruffled side detail looked great on her. And her nude Christian Louboutin pumps went unnoticed, but nonetheless, fab look. Not best dressed, but fabulous nonetheless. HIT

WTF Cassie?! I’m not quite sure what she was trying to do in this chopped & screwed Mark Fast mini dress with her Giuseppe Zanotti boots, but it wasn’t right. At all. [Love her earring though]. MISS

YIKES! Amerie rocked the same Alexander McQueen mini dress as Amber Rose, but paired hers with Alexander McQueen booties and a fab linked chain necklace. Love the smoky eye as well! This is a fabulous-edgy look. Love it on Amerie. HIT

Adrienne Bailon straddled the fence between HIT & MISS. She dared to go these with those bold, stringy necklace and blue silk dress, with cinched waist. Fab look for the former Cheetah Girl.

Tyra Banks was not my favorite look of the night! This menswear inspired look took the wrong turn. Is it just me, or does it seem that Tyra is afraid of her curves? Girl, let it shine! MISS

First off, let me say Kudo’s to Letoya Luckett for not being afraid to be daring. This is not the norm for the Lady Love, but she took an edgy route with this Balmain number and worked it! Although I’m not feeling those Alejandro Ingelmo shoes, she still gets a HIT!

Taraji P. Henson look absolutely FAB-U-LOUS in this Kaufman Franco dress! Okay, I see you! And that Baby Boy rendition with her, Tyrese and Ving Rhames was funny as hell! “You out here talkin’ bout awards, where’s my son Yvette?”. LoL! But for the look, it’s a HIT.

I’m still on the fence about this Estelle look, the denim Acne baroque peplum dress? Ehhh… but I like how she brought out the white MJ glove!

Teairra Mari annoys the hell out of me every time I see her on some body’s red carpet. Ugh! What’s with this ghetto girl gone famous look she always seems to do? MISS

MISS. Period. Next.

Melody Thornton took a risk in this ombre fringed Alexander McQueen. Good for the stage, the red carpet? Not so much. MISS

Keke Palmer looked fabulous and age appropriate in this sparkled embellished not-so-mini mini dress. Love the look on here. HIT

Tatyana Ali finally got her style game together in time for the BET Awards. Love this dress on her. She’s grown so beautifully, *tears*. HIT
