*In 1989, he co-founded Artists For A New South Africa. A non-profit dedicated to democracy and equality in South Africa

He was recently voted one of PEOPLE’s 2008 Sexiest men Alive. Mmm Hmm.

Ok guys, I know I’m exxxxtremely late with this one, but.. better late than never right? Check out the red carpet for this years AMA’s, who wore what and my HIT’s and MISSES:

Alicia Keys looked simple but stunning in an Armani Prive one shoulder dress with Swarovski crystal trim, and while that jeweled thingamajig on her forehead would have caused for an automatic foul, it works for Ms. Keys. HIT

Rihanna looked fabulous in Zac Posen. Very flirty, very fun and very youthful. Leave it to Little Miss Sunshine to be one season ahead. HIT

Taylor Swift (who has the #1 album in the country right now) looked pretty darn boring in Collette Dinnigan and Christian Louboutin shoes. For a girl who’s BF broke up with her on a 27 sec. phone call less than a month ago, she shoulda brought it! Taylor, when you are a celebrity and your man leaves you, you are left with no other choice tha to bring your A-game on the next red carpet you hit. Joe, Nick are whoever Jonas [you were with], should have been kicking himself when he saw you. MISS

Christina Aguilera looked nice in Elie Saab, can’t say I’m loving the hair and makeup though. MISS

The Pussycat Dolls all wore an original design by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Love the look for all 5 ladies. HIT

Beyonce hit the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie Cadillac Records (out Dec. 5th) in this daring, but still fabulous get up:

Mrs. Carter rocked a Dolce & Gabbana dress, Brian Atwood shoes and a jewel-encrusted belt that set the show off. Not sure if you can see her nails, but their hot too. Loves it all.

British designer and celebrity go-to-guy, Matthew Williamson, is collaborating with Swedish retailer H&M to create a capsule collection:

“I love the fact that H&M have created a new phenomenon in fashion through the pioneering concept of collaborating with high-end designers to create one-off limited edition capsule collections. I am thrilled that my creations for H&M will be accessible to and hopefully enjoyed by so many people around the world”
Scarlett Johansson, Rihanna, Thandie Newton, Mischa Barton and many more of Hollywood elite’s are major fans of the brand. Williamson will bring his bright prints to H&M by April 23rd. A second collection, to be released in mid-May, will include both men’s and women’s clothing. Can’t wait! I’ve already expressed my love for this brand already.

'Tis The Season,
Celebs,
Trend Alert
Recently one of my FM readers wrote me and said, “is it okay to wear leggings in fall/winter?” While it’s not okay to wear leggings during this brutally cold season, I do have an alternative that can give you the leggings feel without looking cheap or freezing your azz off. In these recent weeks, Beyonce, Cassie and fashion it girl Rihanna, was spotted wearing what seems to be a new trend and a warmer alternative to the Spring/Summer hit- leggings:

As you can see, all 3 ladies wore all black with their leather pants. Leather pants are very edgy and being that the fabric is very tricky to pull off (and if you’re really pinching penny’s, it can look cheap), you don’t want to do anything else patent or “shiny” (event though, like Cassie, you can pull off pairing it with some patent booties). Here are some leather pants to consider:

Graham & Spencer Faux Leather Skinny Pants $295, INTERMIX

Paige Denim Black Label Hyde Park Skinny Leather Pant $595, Shop Bop

Helmut Lang Skinny Stretch Leather Pants $875, Shop Bop
To pull these off perfectly, I recommend pairing it with all black. All black anything, especially with leather thrown into the mix, can give anyone a little edge. My patent rule, can be adjusted. Not all the time, will patent come off as cheap, but it is very tricky to pair with leather. Cassie for example, rocked it with a pair of patent YSL boots with a blue sole. While Rihanna wore these Yves Saint Laurent high heeled tribute platform sandal ($680), this Alexander Wang scarf blazer ($750) and a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci layered necklace.
Just be careful ladies, don’t overload on the leather, patent or anything shiny!

High-End
I know it’s been a while since I did a “Fashion Watch”, which is when I feature a relatively new line and some brief info about the designer. For this edition of “Fashion Watch”, I bring to you Kai Milla:

Kai Milla, the wife of iconic musician Stevie Wonder of seven years, creates designs for her own fashion line. Kai began drawing at age 5, and studied fine arts in school. When she was a teenager, Kai started designing her own clothes—and found a new passion. “Fashion won in the end,” she says. Kai launched her own fashion line in Spring 2005 and has had a devoted following ever since.
Check out some of her work from the runways:
[Spring 2008 Ready-to-wear]

[Fall 2007]

To purchase a fabulous Kai Milla piece, you will have to be cakin’ it! (LoL… I’m so hood
Her clothing will usually run you up to over $2,000. You can purchase her clothing at any high-end department stores, although you are limited if you are in a small city (sorry).
Check her out online here

Fashion Dont's,
What Not To Do
Ladies, there are certain ways to do certain things. And this is NOT how you do torn jeans (or distressed anything for that matter):

Brandy stepped out in L.A. this week to run some errands and thought that ripping a big hole on the thighs of her True Religion jeans was a bright idea. Or maybe we should blame the stylist, after all– these stars don’t dress them selves! While I am a big fan of distressed style jeans, I wouldn’t do this nor would I recommend it. Before I go into what I would recommend, check out stars who rocked a similar style but in the right way:

Rihanna got into the distressed vibe when she turned up her shorts and pulled down the pockets, exposing them and pairing them with a top that extends beyond the end of the shorts. Anything unstructured always works (well not always) in fashion.

Rachel Bilson rocked a distressed style boyfriend jeans. The loose fit of the jeans was perfect for the style. The cuts in her jeans was small, and that’s where Brandy went wrong. Her holes were too big and the jeans was tight, which pushed out the lining of the tear making it look tacky.

Zoe Kravitz rocked distressed shorts and paired it with a distressed style cowboy boots. The loose strings at the end give it a rocker vibe without saying “I though hard about this one”. Distressed is very tricky and can easily go wrong, so you can’t think too hard. Like Nike said, “Just do it!”
I recommend:

1. Pratt’s Oil Spill Norton Motorcross $198, Chick Downtown
2. The Unknown Factory Used Light Skinny Biker $198, Chick Downtown
3. What Comes Around Goes Around Vintage Boyfriend Jean $195, Chick Downtown [Online Exclusive! And the baggy "boyfriend" fit can add a little swag, although my philosophy on swag is "either you got it or you don't!"]
4. Tristen Destroyed Boot $99.50, Abercrombie & Fitch
Abercrombie & Fitch is the perfect go to place if you want this look, that’s their “signature”. Diesel is another good place to get it, although they have been leaning more towards a “clean” look as of late.
