Kim Kardashian Pisses Of Sephora

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 31, 2010 in Beauty News, Celebs, Fragrance, Seriously? That's Strange

Looks like Kim Kardashian is making a few corporate enemies on her continuing rise to the top! The Sephora execs are pulling her scent from the shelves and cancelling her upcoming in-store appearances:

With the immense amount of success of both of her perfume’s, Kim and Lighthouse Beauty (her fragrance manufacturer) are looking to expand into retailers like Macy’s and Target. The fragrances are currently carried exclusively in Sephora, but with the success of the scents wouldn’t the next, smart step be to expand? Not if you ask Sephora! Apparently, Kim K. and Lighthouse planned to expand without offering Sephora a first right of refusal.

Question is, is Kim Kardashian wrong for expanding into larger markets? (Sephora is by no means as big, or bigger than Macy’s and Target!) or is Sephora wrong for taking this decision so personal and reacting in a way that affects business for both parties? Speak on it…

Rihanna’s Wax Is Equally Fierce

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 31, 2010 in Celebs

We have seen many wax statues in the past, and of course they always dress the wax like the star, but Rihanna’s brand new wax statue, of course by Madame Tussauds, takes the cake:

In case you can’t recall, Rihanna wore this exact same Balmain outfit with Christian Louboutin pumps to Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010, of course to the Balmain show. To see her in the actual outfit Read more…

62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Best & Worst Dressed

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 30, 2010 in Award Shows, Best/Worst Dressed List, Celebs, Red Carpet Style

It’s that time of year again, the Primetime Emmy Awards went down in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater last night, and the stars were shining bright! Of course, some shined brighter than others, and to separate who those were, I have my best & worst dressed for the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards:

BEST:

Heidi Klum never, ever in a lifetime fail to dazzle on a red carpet! No matter the occasion she is always on, and last night was no different. Wearing a strapless, mini rosette Marchesa dress, and spiked Christian Louboutin pumps, she served up style and sass. And the gorgeous diamond necklace and updo definitely topped off the look! Love it!

Kim Kardashian also graced the carpet, and was one of the most fabulous ones to do so! Going with a Grecian goddess theme, she rocked a white chiffon halter gown by Marchesa from the Resort 2011 collection. The jeweled halter definitely served as the perfect neck piece. The simple cuff and stud earrings were minimal, but still perfection. Stunning!

Eva, the red carpet slaya’! Never afraid to take risks or do things unconventionally, Eva Longoria-Parker wore a simply stunning Robert Rodriguez gown, with intricate detailing and mermaid bottom. The look was simple but still very stunning, and although she left the neck naked, she substituted it with dangling earrings. Loving this look for her. She proves you never have to try too hard to look great! Read more…

Who ROCKED It?: Marjorie Harvey vs. Beyonce vs. Rihanna

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 30, 2010 in Celebs, Designer, Who ROCKED It?

I guess this Atelier Versace Fall 2009 dress is the dress that doesn’t quit, huh?

Rihanna first rocked the dress when she did the September cover of Vogue Italia in 2009, then Beyonce wore it while shutting down the 52nd annual Grammy’s stage earlier this year and rocked it with Guiseppe Zanotti booties, and even after all of that, Steve Harvey’s wife Marjorie Harvey wore it recently while attending the 8th annual Hoodie Awards. Rihanna’s look was more high-fashion editorial, as she rocked it with a detachable sleeve, where Beyonce made the look more daring and edgy, and Marjorie gave the dress some class with satin ribbon tie sandals. This Atelier Versace leather mini-dress, with cut out detail is definitely a statement maker, but who made the best statement in it?

Shoegasm: Christian Louboutin Toundra Coyote-Fur Trimmed Boots

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 27, 2010 in Shoegasm

Okay, I’m obsessed. I confess. These shoes have been my laptop desktop picture for the past month and half, and even though I recently changed my desktop to the Porsche 911 Targa 4S, these boots are still apart of me:

Fall will soon enough be upon us, and we need to leave the sandal Shoegasm’s alone and move onto the sexy, sassy and sometimes even grungy Fall essential: boots. First up: The Christian Louboutin Toundra Coyote-Fur Trimmed Suede Ankle Boots. 5 and-a-half-inch heel, 1 and-a-half-inch platform, and that leaves you 4 inches of coyote ugly to strut around in. The shoe also comes with wide buckled leather straps, padded insole and leather lining. Oh, and how could we forget the red sole? Timeless. Per usual, Shoegasm is for drooling purposes only, but you can get these boots for a pretty $2,095 if you must! Also, check out the ad for it: Read more…

Kimora Lee Simmons Leaves Baby Phat, But What Does This Really Mean?

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 27, 2010 in Celebs, Designer, Out Of Business/Shut Down

Anyone who knows me knows much I J’ADORE Kimora Lee Simmons! I am over the top in love with her boldness, fearlessness, and yes, even her loudness! Although I do not necessarily wear Baby Phat, I was still a little saddened and confused that she was leaving. Yes, gone. No more “Baby Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons.” Those same words were permanently attached to the back of every runway at Roseland Ballroom for well over a decade. Why? Because it was hers. Because she built it from the ground up. Because she turned a T-shirt into an empire that turned out to be nothing to f*ck with. Because she turned Russell Simmons’ bad idea of shrinking men’s clothing for women, into something that would surpass its male counterpart. Because she was growing in an economy where everyone else was shrinking, or even collapsing. Because she gave the term “urban clothing” a different vibe, a vibe that those who never supported the style of clothing into hard core consumers. Because she mothered it and nurtured it, and whether we thought everything she sent down that runway was hot or not, we respected it. So with her gone from the company, with the companies products no longer mothered by her vision, what will become of it? And better yet, should we still support it? Read more…

Scarlett Johansson’s D&G Fall 2010 Makeup Ad Campaign

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 27, 2010 in Beauty & Make-Up, Campaigns, Celebs

I’m still in the process of getting over the fact that Scarlett Johansson is married to my future husband in my head (Ryan Reynolds) but I’ll get over that soon enough. Until then, check out her new ad campaign for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2010 Makeup line:

It was a typical D&G aesthetic; sensual, sexy and romantic. For the campaign she rocked D&G’s Classic Cream Lipstick in Amethyst:

Love, love, love this shade! I don’t care how much it cost ($30)… I need this! I’m all the way into it. You can get your hands on the Classic Cream Lipstick at Saks. I’m definitely getting mine. As for Ryan, I’ll get over that soon enough. Or not…

It’s only 2 years in and Fashion’s Night Out is already one of the biggest nights/events in fashion. Collection Spotlight: Balenciaga Fall 2010

Posted by Tara Decoda on Aug 27, 2010 in Designer, High-End, Shoes

Every season, Nicolas Ghesquière finds a way to defy fashion gravity with Balenciaga. Of course the dresses are bold, for sure the jackets have hard-to-take-in architectural awesomeness, and never mind that the accessories astronomically magnificent! All of that, yes all of that is fabulous, but the money shot is always the shoes:

For the Fall 2010 season, he absolutely blew every other collection out of the water. Lock-heeled loafers and brogues with the soles encased in chunks of plastic, the shoes looked like an impressive, mind-blowing final result of a young fashion enthusiast who stumbled upon her older brothers Lego blocks by accident, and got to building. Obviously composed of some of the finest materials on this planet, this collection was everything but boring and mundane! Forget reinventing the caged bootie, Ghesquière invented the lock heeled shoe! Read more…
